FamilyTreeTime Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026 Last updated: July 4, 2026

FamilyTreeTime ("FamilyTreeTime," "we," "us," or "our") is a product of Braemar Media Corporation ("BMC"), a California corporation. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the FamilyTreeTime website and app at familytreetime.com.

We built FamilyTreeTime to be quiet about your data. We don't run ads, we don't use analytics or tracking pixels, and we don't sell your information. Most of what follows is about the details you choose to add.

If anything here is unclear, email us at support@familytreetime.com.

1. The short version

2. Information we collect

a) Information you give us

b) Payment information

When you make a one‑time purchase (a $5 unlock or a $5 gift), payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a confirmation of payment and your email. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe processes card details under its own privacy policy.

c) Information collected automatically

We keep this to a minimum:

We do not use third‑party analytics, advertising, marketing pixels, or cross‑site tracking cookies.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

We do not use your data to train AI models, and we do not use it for advertising.

About the "Ask" feature. The Ask feature answers simple questions, such as "How old was Grandma when Dad was born?", by doing the arithmetic on your device, from the information you've already entered. It does not use artificial intelligence, and your data is not sent anywhere to produce these answers. As with the rest of the app, an answer is only as accurate as the dates you provide.

4. Service providers

To run FamilyTreeTime, we rely on a small number of trusted providers, and we share your data with them only so they can do their job for us: a hosting provider that runs the website and app, a database and sign-in provider that stores your data and signs you in when you have an account, a payment processor that handles one-time purchases (your card details go to it, not to us), and an email provider that sends your sign-in links and gift emails. Each one only handles what its task needs, such as your email address and, where relevant, your data or payment details, and it may store or process that on servers in the United States. We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not allow these providers to use it for their own purposes.

5. If you don't sign in (guest use)

You can use FamilyTreeTime without creating an account, and you can do a lot for free (up to 5 people and 5 events). When you use it this way, your data is saved only on your device, inside your web browser. It is never sent to us or stored in our cloud, and we cannot see it. If you clear your browser's data or switch to another device, that information won't carry over, because it only ever lived on the first device. To keep your data safe, sync it across devices, or move it to a new device, create an account or use the app's export feature to save a copy.

6. Gifts

FamilyTreeTime lets you buy a $5 gift that hands someone a family grid you've already filled in. To do this, we temporarily store a copy of the data you're gifting and the recipient's email so we can deliver it. Once the gift is redeemed, we delete that stored copy. If a gift is never redeemed, we automatically delete the stored family copy and cancel the gift after 30 days. Only send a gift containing information about others if you have the right to share it.

7. Data retention and deletion

We may retain limited records where the law requires (for example, payment/tax records held by Stripe).

8. Information about other people

FamilyTreeTime is designed for you to add information about your family and loved ones. When you add someone else's details, including a child's, you are responsible for making sure you have the right to do so, and for how that information is used. If someone believes you've included their information and wants it removed, they (or you) can contact us at support@familytreetime.com and we'll help.

9. Children

FamilyTreeTime is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly let children under 13 create accounts or collect personal information directly from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it. Note that you, as an adult user, may add information about your own children as part of your family. That information is treated as your account data under this policy.

10. Your privacy rights

You can, at any time:

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access, delete, and correct it, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, and to not be treated differently for exercising these rights. We do not sell or "share" your personal information (as those terms are defined under California law) and we do not use it for cross‑context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, and you're welcome to email us to confirm that in writing. Because we don't track you across the web, we don't respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

EEA and UK Residents. If you are located in the EEA or United Kingdom, you may have certain rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of your personal data, and to object to certain processing of your personal data. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.

We process personal data as necessary to provide, operate, and administer the Service and perform our contract with you; with your consent where required; to comply with applicable legal obligations; and for our legitimate interests in operating, improving, protecting, and securing the Service, provided that those interests do not override your rights and freedoms.

We may transfer personal data to the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. When we make such transfers, we use legally recognized safeguards appropriate to the transfer, which may include an adequacy decision, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, and, where applicable to UK personal data, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country of residence, place of work, or the location of an alleged infringement.

How to make a request, and when we'll respond. To exercise any of these rights, email support@familytreetime.com. We'll verify your request (usually by confirming you control the account email) and respond within the time the law requires: for California requests, within 45 days (with one possible 45‑day extension for complex requests); for EEA/UK requests, generally within one month.

11. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information: data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), signed‑in data is protected by database access controls so each account can only reach its own data, and payments are handled by Stripe rather than by us. No online service can be 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe. If a security incident ever affects your personal information, we'll notify you (for example, by email) without undue delay and as required by law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you (for example, by email or in the app). Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
